This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Manager, Physician (Principal Investigator) Recruiter based in United States.

This is a strategic physician recruitment leadership role focused on building a strong pipeline of oncology physicians and physician-investigators across a growing clinical research network.
You will own the full recruitment lifecycle, from targeted sourcing and candidate engagement through negotiations, hiring, and onboarding.
The role combines hands-on recruiting with long-term workforce planning and talent strategy.
You will build relationships across oncology, cancer research, academic, and physician communities to reach both active and passive candidates.
Working closely with senior and physician leadership, you will provide market intelligence and advise on recruitment priorities and talent availability.
The position offers the opportunity to directly support clinical research growth and expand access to innovative cancer therapies.
This is a fully remote role in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with occasional travel required.


Accountabilities
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment for physician investigators, Medical Oncologists, Hematologist-Oncologists, and other relevant oncology specialists across clinical research sites.

  • Develop targeted sourcing strategies and build relationships with active and passive physician candidates.

  • Manage the complete recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, candidate assessment, offer development, contract negotiations, and onboarding.

  • Coordinate physician site visits and facilitate interactions with executive leaders, physician leaders, and site leadership.

  • Present the clinical research platform, scientific capabilities, and professional opportunities to prospective physician investigators.

  • Facilitate offer discussions and collaborate with business leaders and external partners throughout the hiring process.

  • Build and maintain proactive physician talent pipelines aligned with organizational growth and future site expansion.

  • Establish relationships with oncology fellowship programs, academic cancer centers, physician training programs, and other talent sources.

  • Develop physician referral strategies and talent communities leveraging existing investigator and professional networks.

  • Cultivate relationships throughout oncology and clinical research communities and represent the organization at relevant conferences, networking events, and industry forums.

  • Maintain relationships with fellowship directors, academic cancer center leaders, Principal Investigators, cooperative groups, community oncology leaders, and physician thought leaders.

  • Monitor physician labor-market conditions, compensation trends, candidate availability, and emerging talent markets.

  • Partner with senior and physician leadership to assess workforce requirements and establish recruitment priorities.

  • Provide leadership with regular updates on candidate pipelines, recruitment performance, anticipated hiring challenges, and market conditions.

  • Track recruitment metrics including sourcing effectiveness, candidate pipelines, offer acceptance rates, and time-to-fill.

  • Ensure recruitment activities comply with applicable policies and regulations while supporting effective physician onboarding and integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

  • 5+ years of dedicated physician recruitment experience, with demonstrated success recruiting physicians in highly competitive healthcare markets.

  • Proven experience managing physician recruitment from initial sourcing through signed employment agreements.

  • Strong experience building passive candidate pipelines and implementing direct-sourcing strategies.

  • Excellent negotiation, relationship management, stakeholder engagement, and executive communication skills.

  • Ability to establish credibility and maintain strong relationships with senior physicians, executives, and healthcare professionals.

  • Oncology physician recruitment experience is preferred.

  • Experience recruiting physician investigators, Principal Investigators, or research physicians is highly desirable.

  • Experience supporting clinical research organizations, cancer centers, oncology networks, or academic medical centers is preferred.

  • Established relationships within oncology and cancer research communities are an advantage.

  • Working knowledge of clinical trials and oncology drug development is beneficial.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage demanding deadlines in a fast-changing healthcare environment.

  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed.

  • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment while maintaining strong collaboration with distributed stakeholders.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary of $110,000–$130,000, with actual base pay dependent on factors such as market location, knowledge, skills, and experience.

  • Fully remote position based in the United States.

  • Monday–Friday schedule, generally 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
