The Physician & APP Recruiter serves as a strategic talent partner responsible for building and maintaining a high-quality pipeline of physicians and advanced practice providers (NPs, PAs, CRNAs, etc.) to support organizational growth and patient care delivery. This role partners closely with medical service leadership, operations, and HR to anticipate provider needs, guide hiring strategies, and deliver an exceptional candidate experience from first outreach through onboarding.
This recruiter brings deep knowledge of provider recruiting best practices, market dynamics, and compliance requirements, while proactively advising leaders on sourcing strategies, timelines, and competitive positioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle recruiting for physicians and APPs, including sourcing, screening, interviewing coordination, offer negotiation, and onboarding support.
- Build and maintain proactive provider pipelines for critical and hard-to-fill specialties.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to medical service leaders by providing market insights, compensation intelligence, and hiring recommendations.
- Partner with marketing and business development to enhance provider attraction strategies, employer branding, and recruitment campaigns.
- Conduct intake meetings with stakeholders to understand medical service needs, coverage models, timelines, and workforce plans.
- Manage candidate communication with a strong focus on provider experience and relationship-building.
- Coordinate and track provider recruitment activity within ATS and CRM platforms, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
- Support offer development in collaboration with compensation, finance, and legal teams.
- Ensure recruiting practices comply with all state and federal employment laws, credentialing requirements, and internal policies.
- Mentor and support other recruiters as needed, sharing best practices in sourcing and candidate care.
- Attend meetings, site visits, and recruitment events as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of physician and APP labor markets, sourcing strategies, and long-cycle recruiting.
- Knowledge of employment law, compliance standards, and healthcare hiring regulations.
- Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
- High level of organization and ability to manage multiple active searches simultaneously.
- Proficiency with ATS, CRM systems, and reporting tools.
- Ability to influence without authority and guide stakeholders through complex hiring decisions.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field
- Equivalent recruiting experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with at least 2–3 years focused on physician and/or APP recruiting strongly preferred
- Healthcare or provider recruiting experience required
- Experience partnering with senior clinical leaders and executives preferred
Certifications (Preferred)
- PHR, SPHR, or healthcare-related recruiting certification
