This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Profee CardioThoracic Surgery Coding Specialist based in United States.

This fully remote role offers an opportunity to apply specialized professional-fee coding expertise within the cardiothoracic surgery field.
You will play an important role in supporting accurate coding, reimbursement, and revenue-cycle outcomes for healthcare clients.
The position combines detailed medical record review with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding expertise.
You will assess documentation, determine appropriate E/M levels, and code cardiothoracic surgical procedures with a high degree of accuracy.
Success in this role requires strong independent judgment, consistent productivity, and close attention to coding guidelines and documentation.
You will work in a quality-focused environment where accuracy, compliance, confidentiality, and continuous learning are essential.
With a remote setup, the role provides flexibility while allowing you to contribute directly to high-quality healthcare reimbursement operations.


Accountabilities
  • Provide professional-fee coding services supporting healthcare clients, with a primary focus on cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Calculate appropriate professional-fee E/M levels and assign CPT codes for cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
  • Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes to the highest level of specificity supported by clinical documentation.
  • Accurately assign CPT®, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and applicable ICD-10-PCS codes in accordance with established coding standards.
  • Interpret and apply coding guidelines to ensure accurate, compliant code assignment.
  • Review clinical documentation and assess its impact on coding decisions and reimbursement.
  • Maintain required productivity, accuracy, and quality standards, including a minimum 95% accuracy and quality score.
  • Protect confidential information and comply with privacy, security, ethics, and compliance requirements, including the protection of Personal Health Information.
  • Participate in company-provided training and continuing education to maintain and strengthen coding expertise.
  • Work independently from a home-based environment while communicating effectively with leadership and colleagues and meeting established deadlines.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of professional-fee cardiothoracic surgery coding experience is required.
  • Minimum of 6 months of on-the-job coding experience.
  • Current coding certification through AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P) is mandatory, with at least one active professional credential maintained.
  • Strong working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, and relevant coding guidelines and methodologies.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records, billing platforms, and related healthcare systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently analyze clinical documentation, make accurate coding decisions, and identify the reimbursement implications of documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to consistently meet demanding accuracy, quality, productivity, and deadline requirements.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a professional approach to collaboration and problem solving.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook, including basic spreadsheet functions, email management, scheduling, and virtual meetings.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities, analyze information, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Reliable internet access, a phone, and current CPT and ICD-10-CM coding reference materials are required.
  • Ability to work remotely and remain productive and punctual while spending approximately 6–8 hours per day working at a computer.
