Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify doubtful or incomplete documentation for accurate coding.
  • Ensure compliance with coding policies and procedures, as well as governmental regulations and payer guidelines.
  • Monitor changes in coding practices and updates to relevant regulations, incorporating them into daily practice as necessary.
  • Conduct pre-bill audits to ensure the accuracy of coding prior to billing submission.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior coding staff on best practices and coding updates.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Medical Coder (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent).
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pathophysiology.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high accuracy in coding practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals.
