Responsibilities

• Accurately code all medical diagnoses and procedures using proper coding systems such as ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure the accuracy and completeness of coded data.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures when necessary.
• Maintain coding compliance with federal, state, and payor regulations.
• Conduct regular audits and reviews of coded records to ensure adherence to best practices.
• Stay updated on changes in coding regulations and guidelines to ensure quality of work.
• Assist in training and mentoring new staff on coding procedures and standards.

Requirements

• Certification as a Medical Coder (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) is preferred.
• Proven experience in medical coding, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Thorough understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Familiarity with coding software and electronic health record systems.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
