About the Role:
Frontier Psychiatry was founded by Montana psychiatrists who saw their neighbors waiting months—or driving hours—for specialized mental health care.

To meet the needs of the rural communities we call home, we built Frontier—a secure telepsychiatry practice that allows patients to access high-quality psychiatric and therapeutic care from home, without referrals, and with most insurance plans accepted. Appointments are typically 60 minutes, with some 30-minute visits available based on clinical need.

We are hiring a Clinical Therapist to provide thoughtful, evidence-based therapy to patients of all ages while helping expand access to care in underserved regions—without sacrificing clinical quality or clinician wellbeing.

What You’ll Do

Mental Health Assessments:

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations, including diagnostic formulation and clear diagnostic justification
  • Utilize evidence-based assessment tools to support accuracy and clinical decision-making

Therapeutic Interventions:

  • Provide short-term, targeted therapy using evidence-based modalities.
  • Deliver care across individual, family,  or group settings as clinically appropriate
  • Tailor interventions to patient goals while maintaining a clear therapeutic strategy and monitoring treatment response
  • Provide psychoeducation related to coping skills, communication, stress management, and emotional regulation

Treatment Planning

  • Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans aligned with patient needs, clinical guidelines, and SMART goal setting
  • Regularly reassess progress and adjust plans accordingly

Crisis Intervention

  • Conduct structured risk assessments and develop safety plans for patients experiencing acute distress
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe follow-up and continuity of care

Case Management & Collaboration

  • Work closely with psychiatric providers, medical teams, and behavioral health colleagues to support integrated care
  • Assist patients with referrals and navigation of community resources when appropriate

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete all clinical documentation within organizational timeline standards
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, clinically sound, and compliant with billing, regulatory, and organizational requirements

Professional & Ethical Practice

  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and legal requirements related to confidentiality, informed consent, and mandatory reporting
  • Participate in weekly supervision, rounding, or case consultation as directed by the Director of Psychotherapy and Care Management
  • Maintain flexibility in scheduling to support patient access and program needs
  • Maintain CEUs and all regulatory requirements
  • Be willing to obtain licensure in additional states as needed to meet clinical demand

What Success Looks Like

In this role, success means:

  • Delivering clinically sound, patient-centered therapy
  • Maintaining timely, high-quality documentation
  • Collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team
  • Providing care that improves access and outcomes for rural communities

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a CSWE- or CACREP-accredited institution
  • Independently licensed as an LCSW or LCPC in Montana, Idaho, Nevada or Alaska at time of hire
  • Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including short-term and targeted approaches
  • Proficiency in remote care delivery, including secure telehealth platforms and electronic documentation systems
  • For LCPC applicants: completion of the NCE or NCMHCE. Candidates who have not yet taken the NCMHCE must be eligible and willing to complete it if required for licensure in additional states.
